Same day appointments may be available and can be scheduled by calling the office at 8:30 AM. It is necessary to have a positive pregnancy test before making an appointment for an abortion. Home tests are just as accurate. If you have any medical problems please mention them to the counselor when you schedule your appointment.
On the day of your surgery do not eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your appointment. Do continue to take any medications that have been prescribed by another doctor. You must have someone available to drive you home. If you need to come by yourself, inform the staff when you schedule that you will need to leave in a taxi. If you are coming in for a consultation or for a medical abortion then you may eat before you come and you may drive yourself.
Expect to be in the office about 2 hours even though the abortion only takes 20 minutes. We need to obtain information about your health, counsel you about the details, and allow time for you to rest after the procedure. Do not schedule any work, classes, or other commitments on the day of your procedure. You will be able to return to work or school the following day. You may go out to eat or see a movie after you leave the office as long as someone else is driving you. Consultation with the doctor is recommended if you are unsure about your decision, for high-risk pregnancy, issues about drug exposure during this pregnancy, paternity issues, or suspected ectopic pregnancy. Consultation is required before second and third trimester abortions.
Your visit is strictly confidential We are a private office and there are no protestors. Minors (under age 18) are not required to have parental consent in the state of California. If you wish your identity to remain anonymous let the counselor know when you call to make an appointment. No one will call or write to you without your permission.
