| How to Get into College By Bharat Sahgal – Courier Staff Writer College Bound’s annual “Rising to Excellence”…weekend celebration, this Saturday and Sunday, is a two day happening which brings the college experience to the entire community through an event with college presidents. It culminates in a award and scholarship ceremony highlighting the graduating high school seniors. Families will have the opportunity to hear the heads of various colleges and universities address the value and current trends in higher education, admission requirements, cutting edge major, career choices, etc. It will take place on April 9 at Crenshaw Christian Center. Last year over 1,000 parents and students participated in this informative forum. The grand finale is the College Bound’s 12th annual Rites of Academic Passage ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel on April 10. College Bound is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide academic programs and services that prepare undeserved students for admission into and graduation from four-year institutions of higher education for the past fifteen years.
