BEVERLY HILLS HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE CLASS—The BHHS Science Class have been invited to the First Robotics Competition in which they have a chance to compete nationally if they advance.First Robotics CompetitionBy Courier Staff WriterCoached by teacher Charles Lee, the Beverly Hills High School science team will also be competing in Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, JETS (Junior Engineer and Technical Society) at USC, and Ocean Bowl. Newly formed BHHS Robotic Team #1515 Mortorq was started under the leadership of Dr. Stepenosky, principal, about seven months ago. The team participated in FIRST Robotics Colorado regional competition at University of Colorado and won the “Rookie Inspiration” award (2nd highest of the rookie honors). Then the team participated in FIRST Robotics Southern California regional competition last week at Great Western Forum in Inglewood and won the “Rookie All-Star” award (highest for recognizing the whole rookie team) which makes it team eligible to compete in the championship event in Atlanta beginning April 21. The parents and the community have greatly supported the effort with the PTA actively helping with the funding.
