THE INTERNATIONAL ANTIQUE FAIR, FINALLY!óPrior to the 1920ís and 1930ís, folk art, such as the one pictured on the right, was viewed as simplistic and merely functional. Now, in an age where so many of our items are machine made, it has really come into its own; highly respected and sought-after by collectors and museums the world over. One of the most celebrated antique events is the Redondo Beach International Antique Fair. In itís sixth season, it will be held at the renowned Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach, from July 30-August 1. The center and the grounds will be filled to capacity with the best treasures that money can buy. The countryís top dealers, each a specialist in their own collecting category, come together for this antiques gala. With all of the color and bustle of the great European outdoor fairs and New England tent shows, the grounds will be covered with dozens of Renaissance style tents dotting the landscape. Stroll the grounds and check out the individual shops filled with irresistible merchandise. Add to that the special thrill of uncovering an investment-quality piece that will round out your growing collection. Fine antiques, including Asian ancient art, porcelains, paintings, sculptures, prints and fine collector items such as English and European furniture, rare books, antique and estate jewelry, textiles, rugs, art glass and more. New to the show this year is the Market Annex where shoppers can find value priced antiques and collectibles. There are great bargains on everything, including, turn of the century furnishings, valuable tin toys, costume jewelry, perfume bottles and vintage clothing. The Redondo Beach Antique Fair is a wonderful experience for everyone. Refreshments stations make the day so much more enjoyable. Box Brothers, well known in the antique Industry for their care and professionalism, will be available at the show for shipping worldwide. The fairís hours are Friday from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday 10:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday 11:00 -6:00p.m. A collectors preview will be held two hours before opening on Friday at 11:00 a.m. General admission is $9.00. A $25.00 fee will entitle you to admission to the fair the entire weekend. The Center is located at Aviation and Manhattan Beach Blvd. Free parking is available. Autry National Center is a multicultural history center that explores the experiences and the perceptions of the diverse peoples of the American West. The center is the result of the merging of three important museum organizations; The Southwest Museum of the American Indian, Museum of the American West (formerly the Autry Museum of Western Heritage), and Women of the West Museum.
